As Sopwell House drives forward with a £12m spa development programme, Amthal is working closely in partnership to ensure it is delivered to create a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.

Sopwell House is a Georgian country House Hotel, which is owned and operated by AB Hotels, and presents a luxury 128 bedroom hotel, country club & spa located south of St Albans, Hertfordshire, England.  Construction on the new spa facilities, including a 430m outdoor space garden has begun and due to open in early 2019.  Amthal has been the security partner of choice at Sopwell House for three years covering all aspects of fire and safety maintenance.  The fire and security specialist is working closely with the construction team on site to ensure new requirements are fitted without compromising on aesthetics of the new spa.  Hotel security is one of the biggest challenges presented, to enable balancing a welcoming and relaxing environment that doesn’t compromise on the safety of guests.  Amthal current maintain all existing fire and CCTV systems throughout Sopwell House.  And for the new spa facilities, Amthal is installing latest IP CCV together with access control integrated with the main hotel and extending the fire systems, again from the main hotel building.

Says Alon Bejerano, Project Manager at AB Hotels:

‘This is a very exciting chapter for Sopwell House, and a significant investment that we are all looking forward to presenting to our guests.  Whilst its core objective is to offer the latest and greatest luxury amenities; it’s integral that it can be enjoyed in a safe and secure environment.  “Having Amthal as our existing security partner on board right from the early stages of the design, and specification of the spa development is key.  The team could offer advice and practical support on how and where to install security measures to blend with their surroundings, without affecting the experience for our staff and guests.”

Paul Rosenthal, Sales Director at Amthal Fire and Security added:

“Today hotel guests have higher expectations than ever, including personalised experiences and the opportunity to create memories, even if it’s just an overnight stay. With more focus on guest experience than ever before, it’s critical luxury hoteliers such as Sopwell House continue to evolve their offerings to meet this demand.  “This all has to be achieved with guests assured they are safe and secure, expecting a home from home experience.  They need peace of mind in the physical sense and also with consideration of increasing reliance on integrated systems through the Internet of Things.  At Sopwell House, it has taken careful planning and a close working partnership to achieve these objectives for fire and security services for the new spa facilities and hotel as a whole.”

Amthal Fire & Security has secured Watford Palace Theatre with an access control system incorporating networked control doors, software and proximity ID cards, all installed without compromising on the Grade II listed early 20th Century building.

Watford Palace Theatre, opened in 1908, is a 600 seat Edwardian Palace Theatre that has undergone significant refurbishment to offer modern accessible facilities including its own rehearsal room, wardrobe and scenic workshop, together with the new Green Bar Room.

As the theatre continues to develop the quality of experience for all who visit, the site management team is also conscious of protecting the investment and assets of the building premises for the benefit of all who visit and work on site.

Following an initial site survey to understand the unique requirements of the theatre, Amthal Fire & Security installed an access control system consisting of 30 IP networked control doors, software and proximity ID cards to offer ultimate door entry and controlled access management.

Richard Collette, Account Manager at Amthal Fire & Security added:

“Watford Palace Theatre was clear in a desire to partner with a company and develop a long professional relationship to maintain the high level of protection required at a theatre premises, with ongoing streams of staff and visitors at all times of day and night.

“Amthal Fire & Security shares this vision, which is why we go the extra mile to ensuring fire and security solutions exactly fit the requirements of buildings in terms of functionality, flexibility, scalability and management.   Watford Palace Theatre is a great example of how the very latest access control solutions can be installed seamlessly in such a beautiful Edwardian building, with no effect to the architectural design.“

Says Dan Baxter, Communications Director for Watford Palace Theatre:

“We have an obligation to provide security and accessibility for all theatre goers, in addition to key members of staff.  But any security installed had to be carefully considered with regards its impact on the aesthetics and architectural style of the Edwardian Palace Theatre.

“Amthal Fire & Security understood this and following a thorough site survey, designed the access control system around our needs.  The installation process was quick and the new system is easy to manage and ensures complete access, safety and security.  We are also safe in the knowledge it’s future proofed so that as we continue to develop the site, the level of protection can continue to grow with the facilities available.”

Back to basic security and alarms are the premise to all good security.  Amthal will ensure a monitored alarm, or wireless security system can be tailored to your property to keep your assets and possessions safe and protected from any opportunist or professional criminal activity.

If you are responsible for business premises, an employer or self-employed with business premises, responsible for a part of a dwelling where that part is solely used for business purposes, a charity or voluntary organisation or a contractor with a degree of control over any premises, you have a responsibility in relation to fire prevention!

As the world becomes more digital and buildings more intelligent, homeowners and businesses are looking at more efficient ways to secure buildings.  Access control enables you total control on who has access to your building. Locks and keys also allow you to secure your building, but when keys are lost or stolen, the inconvenience and expense of changing locks and re-issuing keys can be considerable.

CCTV Installation can let you know who is at your door, help prevent incidents and criminal activity and help protect people and property.  Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) works around the clock to help detect and deter crime, providing organisations with vital information.  Many existing users of CCTV installation are failing to realise the full potential of their system and the benefits it can provide.

Amthal's team of surveyors and system designers include individuals with industry experience of over two decades, combined with technology specialists who's purpose it is to keep up with the ever changing industry technology, products and integration.

We are regularly audited by the SSAIB & BAFE to ensure all systems we install meet current BS & EU industry standard requirements, Our experienced and skilled staff will deliver the design, installation and commissioning of the entire system.
