Amthal has been awarded a new support contract with global technology leaders Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V, to upgrade and maintain security solutions at it UK Head Office, and across its regional UK offices.
As one of the world’s leading names in the manufacture and sales of electrical products and systems, Mitsubishi Electric has eight regional offices, including its UK Head Office in Hatfield, supporting over 700 staff members. The new contract with Amthal covers the provision of support and maintenance across each of Mitsubishi Electric’s sites, to ensure security arrangements, including CCTV, intruder alarm and access control, are maintained to the highest level and upgraded quickly where required.
Says Karen Kelsall, Mitsubishi Electric Business Services Team – Facilities Coordinator:
“Each of our UK office locations has its own security arrangements that must be maintained on a regular basis. We needed to source a reliable company that could not only achieve this requirement but also ensure we continue to offer our staff and visitors complete peace of mind at their place of work. “Amthal proved themselves even before the contract was signed, responding to several different site requests quickly, with true technical capability and professionalism. Plus, being a local company to our Head Offices makes a difference to ensuring an efficient and sustainable supplier service that we look forward to building.”
Jamie Allam, Commercial Director Amthal Fire & Security added:
“This contract award is extremely significant for Amthal, not only to be associated with such a global brand, but also to demonstrate our commitment to our customers, both new and existing.
Amthal Styles Fire & Security Solutions For JPA Furniture
Contract Furniture specialists JPA Furniture has returned to its security roots, looking to Amthal to design, install and maintain a bespoke fire safety solution for the benefit of its staff and visitors. JPA Furniture initially used Amthal to create a bespoke CCTV system for its head office before requesting the fire and security specialist takeover an existing intruder alarm.
So impressed with the continued attention to customer detail, design, careful installation and ongoing maintenance, the award winning family firm again called Amthal back to design and install a state of the art fire safety solution. Amthal worked with JPA Furniture from the initial design process, carrying out a thorough site survey to ensure the resulting fire alarm system would accommodate the company needs, and installation was planned around working hours to minimise disruption.
Says Ian Pulsford, Financial Controller at JPA Furniture:
“Amthal is a company that is a true breath of fresh air in their attentiveness to their customers. They listen to exact requirements and invest in the right research and team to turn the individual needs of a company into a bespoke reality.
“For both the security and fire safety solutions, installation was completed with the engineers proving to be polite and courteous whilst going out of their way to reduce disruption as much as possible. With Amthal on board, we have total peace of mind our offices are safe and secure and we would have no hesitation in recommending them, and commending their great customer service.”
Phil Bryant, Service Accounts Manager at Amthal Fire & Security added:
“Like JPA Furniture, Amthal has evolved as a family business, with a core mission, vision and set of values in which we consider our customers to be an extension of our team and business. It’s something we think sets us apart in a crowded marketplace.
“With this in mind it’s in our core ‘DNA’ to support bespoke requirements. And we illustrate our dedication to finding the right solutions throughout the process, from the first meeting through design to installation and reliable ongoing maintenance. We believe it’s why company’s such as JPA Furniture call us back to look after their complete building fire and security needs.”
When award winning, independent enterprise agency STANTA was looking for an all-encompassing security system for its office building in St Albans, it looked no further than local security specialist Amthal Fire & Security.
Not for profit service STANTA has been established for over thirty years, serving to help start, grow and develop successful businesses in the St Albans area with training and 7,500 sq. ft. of low-risk office space to rent in its dedicated Business Centre.
The centre offers 19 dedicated units for business start-ups and when it came to security, each one required a dedicated alarm and individual door entry system. This was alongside the need for an overall alarm and access control solution for the building, coupled with CCTV at the front and back to secure the premises.
Says Mel Brown, Executive Director of STANTA Business Enterprises:
“We knew we had complex requirements with each individual business needing its own alarm and access system, alongside the security needs of the building itself. Amthal made it their priority to understand this and design a bespoke system that ensured all units could be separately secured in one solution.
“Ever since the installation, Amthal has stayed in regular communication to deliver an exceptional service, offering maintenance as necessary, alongside advice on how to keep the building and its users safe and secure. For us, it is an added bonus that they are a local company and dedicated member of the Chamber of Commerce as it supports our ethos to develop the business community in St Albans.”
Paul Rosenthal, Sales Director of Amthal Fire & Security added:
"What our work with STANTA demonstrates is our commitment to ensuring security measures, right from initial design, through installation and maintenance, achieves the necessary requirements of individual building and its purpose.
"In STANTA's case, they were initially concerned about the complexity of operating separate security systems in one, but we could quickly put their mind at ease and now have become their local, total solution provider and the start-up business community in St Albans can be assured their significant investment is safe and secure.

Eppendorf UK was planning a move to new headquarters in Stevenage, while in the process of closing offices in Cambridge and St Albans.
Eppendorf is one of the world’s leading life science companies, developing, producing and distributing instruments, consumables and services for use in research laboratories and academic Institutions internationally.
Products cover three main areas (liquid, cell and sample handling) and include a 1.5ml micro test tube (the ‘Eppi’) which has become a generic brand name around the world.
With no Facilities Manager on the team, Customer Services and Office Manager Terry Allen needed a simple but effective one-stop shop solution to the company’s security requirements in the new building (unoccupied since completion in 2007), to ensure an early move was possible.
Amthal was approached, after being recommended by Eppendorf’s Telecoms provider, to commission the pre-existing fire alarms and activate the emergency lighting. After rapidly completing the project, Phil Bryant and the Amthal team went on to install burglar alarms and a door entry system (integrated with the new telephones).
The next project was to design and install a new fire panel and circuit (requiring a separate extractor system) for a workshop in which the smoke detectors had to be controlled independently. They could then be switched off for short periods while trials were running.
As a result of the rapid response and installation of simple but effective systems, Amthal are now preferred suppliers to Eppendorf, having saved the company significant time and resources, as well as enabling them to move into their new offices at an early date.
"I couldn't fault the professionalism of the Amthal team and their fast, proactive and effective solution to our security requirements. They took away another huge pressure of the logistics of moving to new Headquarters seamlessly. Amthal were highly recommended and lived up to our expectations. They took our brief and implemented it so effectively that it led to the company saving both time and resource. We have made Amthal our preferred supplier and are pleased to recommend them in the future."

Chess Telecoms, a company cited second in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to work for in 2016, is a voice, connect, cloud and digital specialist that aims to help companies to improve their communications experience and reduce their costs.

Says Adrienne Watt, Head of Operations at Chess Telecoms:
“Security of our team and workplace is absolutely key to the successful running of our business. The new offices provided us with the perfect opportunity to design from scratch a fire and security system that matched our specific needs.
“We had no hesitation in retaining the services of Amthal, with whom we have shared a close working partnership for many years. The team worked meticulously through the detail to ensure all fire and security measures were accommodated in the design process. The installation was completed with minimal disruption and they continue to work with us and are in regular communications to make sure it is maintained to the highest possible standard.”
The bespoke system created by Amthal’s engineering team includes intruder protection, CCTV, fire and access control systems throughout the new offices. Amthal now maintains its services for Chess Telecoms and Adrienne and the operations team is kept up to date with any scheduled testing or update requirements.
Paul Rosenthal, Sales Director for Amthal Fire and Security added:
“What Chess Telecoms demonstrates is the importance of designing a fire and security system early on for a new premises. We had the benefit of a blank canvas and literally walked through the office to ensure all areas and product requirements were captured.
“During the concept phase, we held a number of meetings with the team, acting as a fire and security consultant and taking the time to understand any changes needed, presenting different options and working together to put a final plan in place that met their budget.”
“This way, the fire and security system was installed with minimal disruption and could serve to keep the staff and visitors safe and secure practically from the day the company moved in! We continue to operate a scheduled service and support package to maintain all fire and systems above and beyond the call of duty.”
