School Energy Savings with Access Control
Simply upgrading security can reduce energy costs for education premises, says Amthal Fire & Security.
The Department for Education is faced with an estimated budget shortfall of £600 million in 2015-16, according to the Association of Colleges. Despite these financial constraints, it is essential that the safety and security of students, staff and the public is not compromised.
Actions such as upgrading mechanical doors to access control, and integrating with existing fire and security measures already in place can ensure a much more efficient running system.
Says Paul Rosenthal, Sales Director at Amthal Fire & Security: "Naturally the estimated cuts to the education sector will lead to building owners and facilities managers looking to reduce expenditure wherever possible.
"In upgrading to access control solutions, essentially, wireless locks often run on standard lithium-ion batteries that only "wake up" when prompted by a smart card or other user credentials. They are not connected to the mains, and do not consume power when inactive."
"So whilst we understand the pressures to reduce costs, we can work with managers to create a bespoke security upgrade programme that is both futureproof and scaleable to develop around budget, time and resource allocation, whilst also being installed and integrated intelligently so as not to disturb learning timetables."
