Latest Crime Statistics Revealed
The Office of National Statistics (ONS) has launched new figures on crime rates in England and Wales suggesting it fell by seven per cent in 2014 to an estimated 6.9 million incidents, its lowest since 1981.
However, in a separate report, the ONS published annual figures for police recorded crime, which suggests an increase of 2 per cent to 3.8 million, but in better news, suggests residential burglaries recorded has fallen eight per cent to just under 201,000.
Says Jamie Allam, Commercial Director of Amthal Fire & Security: “The new ONS figures reflect a starkly different image between the crime rates and police recorded crime. But what is clear between the two is this is no time for complacency.
“Ensuring homes and business’ are fully secured with the very latest security products, professionally installed, is still the key to ensuring family, possessions and assets are secure. This way, we can work together with Police Forces cross the UK to stop any opportunist attacks and keep the general long-term downward trend heading in the right direction.”
