With even the Metropolitan Police Commissioner declaring that the ‘warning lights are flashing,’ the latest official crime figures across England and Wales have the potential to make for depressing reading.

Violent crime in England and Wales has risen by 22%, including “genuine but small” increases in murder and knife crime, and overall crime rose by 8% in the 12 months to September, according to police recorded crime figures.

The quarterly crime figures published by the Office for National Statistics also report industry data showing a 39% increase in fraud involving UK-issued debit and credit cards to 1.9m, making fraud the most commonly-experienced offence.

Robberies, vehicle offences, theft from the person and shoplifting have also all seen increases, according to the latest statistics.

Says Jamie Allam, Commercial Director Amthal Fire & Security: “The statistics themselves are naturally cause for concern, and especially demonstrate how the nature of crime has changed significantly with the rise in fraud and online offences.

However, rest assured that Amthal is working closely with local Police to ensure we can offer necessary peace of mind, offering latest security measures to combat the growing trend and protect those who are vulnerable.”

Amthal Fire & Security is offering free security surveys across residential and commercial premises to ensure you have the most up to date security measures in place to keep your home and business, safe and secure.
